Welcome to our blog.
Why “Our Rumbling Ocean”? The literal explanation: “We live 150 m from the ocean, on the East Coast of South Africa”. We are therefore lucky to hear the ocean rumble throughout the day, a constant background to our lives.
Rumbling oceans can also mean, white noise, something we have become very familiar with, especially after the birth of our son in 2013, after being married for 17 years.
Even deeper than that, oceans never seem to be the same, they have “moods”. Sometimes it is light green, other times dark green or grey-blue. This depends on what the weather is bringing for that day. I guess this is very similar to life. I (Adrian d’Blanco) am a fine art artist and will share projects from time to time here to add some more diversity flavor to the blog.
Finally the coastline bring a range of wildlife and flora.
The idea, therefore, of this blog is to bring some of these events and daily experiences to readers, including family outings, activities, fauna, flora and explorations of Boeta, our son and my art endeavors.
We hope you enjoy this road with us.

I used to live on some Scottish islands and loved living near the sea – very calming. Whatever bad mood I could end up in, I’d go down to the sea and feel better every time 🙂

Oh yes, taking a walk makes a massive difference to a mood. Hehe.
After 40 years in the middle of the North American continent, I now live a mile from the ocean, in Cornwall, on the southwest tip of Britain. And you’re right–the ocean does have its moods. You could watch it all day and not see the same thing twice.

He-Man would be quite at home living 150m from the sea. He’s always wanted to live near it, but his unwillingness to commute longer than 40 minutes has kept us in the suburbs of Silicon Valley.
We often head over the hill for dinner, and a stroll, and I head over even more often for photographic adventures, and birding. I’m so looking forward to seeing the birds you have there, and reading about the adventures the little one brings too.
I’ve got my 2.7 yr old #1 Grandson full time so can relate to much of what you’re experiencing with your little one. Albeit I might be a bit more relaxed since this my 3 time through child rearing. 🙂 It certainly seems easier anyway.
